Columbia City Residence

PSE acted as the structural designers for a specialized residence located on the banks of the Columbia River in Columbia City, Oregon. The client required that no part of the foundation reside within the flood plain of the river. |
An innovative cantilevered foundation, on which the house was projected out over the Columbia River, was designed using deep tension tie back grouted piles, cambered beams, and lateral bracing. |

Panavista Residence

This project in the west hills of Portland was on a site with an unparalleled view of the Tualatin Valley, but largely covered in an active landslide. PSE, in concert with a local geotechnical engineer, designed a pile foundation system which was designed to allow up to 15 feet thick of slide material to move past the foundation system with limited interruption to the livability and stability of the home. |
The structure, including the driveway, was designed to allow for differential movement, making a previously unbuildable lot into the Owner’s dream home. |
