Peterson Structural Engineers, Inc. has performed design review services for a multitude of structures. As a consultant for many regional municipalities in the states of Oregon and Washington including the Cities of Seattle, Lake Oswego, and Springfield, we have acted as Plans Examiner for building code compliance during the permit application process. We have performed review services for new buildings as well as additions and alterations to existing structures of various construction types.
Our review process covers ordinance, structural, and accessibility requirements of the International Building Code and supporting documents. Included in the review process are life safety issues pertaining to exiting, occupancy, and fire resistance, structural issues pertaining to foundations, vertical, and lateral resisting systems, and barrier-free issues pertaining to accessible exit routes, parking, and facilities.
The buildings reviewed by PSE have ranged in size from 1-story single family residences to high-rise hotels and condominiums with attached parking garages. In addition to residentially occupied buildings, the numerous structures we have examined include hospitals, educational facilities, office buildings, churches, shoring systems, and mixed occupancy buildings with restaurant and retail spaces.
