Peterson Structural Engineers is a structural engineering consulting firm committed to providing the highest quality engineering services. Gary Peterson opened his office as a Consulting Structural Engineer in Portland, Oregon in 1967. Thirty years later, PSE was incorporated in 1997 when Gary was joined by his son, Erik Peterson. Travis McFeron became a principal in 2004 and PSE currently has ten employees who offer their clients over one hundred years of engineering education and experience.

PSE is an expanding firm that is capable of providing engineering advice, design and consulting services for a wide variety of projects. Their diverse background has included work for municipalities on water and wastewater treatment plants, storage reservoirs, fisheries, head gates and numerous other infrastructure facilities. For contractors,

they have provided design and installation drawings for complex temporary construction needs such as shoring, bulkheads and scaffolding. PSE has considerable experience in the structural design and lateral load analysis for new design and remodeling of large upscale homes.

A particularly unique area of practice, developed during the past 25 years, is the experience of working with renowned artists to provide structural integrity and support for large public sculptures and art commissions.

In keeping abreast of current engineering trends, PSE has experience in the upgrading of unreinforced masonry buildings to meet current and anticipated future code standards. Several recent projects have required sophisticated computer modeling of complex three-dimensional structural frames. In addition, they have been frequently engaged by various parties to assist in forensic investigations of structural engineering problems.

PSE engineers have experience in design and analysis employing numerous construction types and materials, ranging from standard materials such as wood, concrete, steel, and masonry to more specialized materials such as aluminum, stainless steel, fiber reinforced plastics and chrome-moly steel.
